Ebenezer

Today is Monday. I had a very good weekend. Friday was a good day, so I went to the library (one of my fun things to do!) Then Saturday was our family's monthly birthday celebration. Our family has 15 people in it whose birthdays are spread all year, so every month we have a birthday celebration to get together and to of course celebrate the birthdays that month. We all look forward to it. Well, perhaps, no one looks forward to it as much as I (Grandma) does. Anyway, it was another good day for me and the weather was great. I got my son, Dana, to walk me out to see how he made his chicken coop! I had been curious about it and found the time interesting and educational.
So anyway, I was quite tired on Sunday, but we decided to go to church anyway, and of course, God blessed me with his presence and in being able to talk with different people. I did have to rest the rest of the day, though.
Today as I was reading my devotional book "The Daily Bread" it was talking about the stone that Samuel set up. He called it the "Ebenezer Stone" "Thus Far as the Lord Helped Us"
This idea has always captured my attention, but how do you put up a stone to show how far the Lord has helped us? The devotional book suggested: Keeping a journal, Keeping a prayer and answers to prayers journal, and telling others what the Lord has done for you. So I am telling you that God has answered a prayer for me today, and He gave me a fantastic weekend!

Facing Reality

I was reading an online newsletter about fibromyalgia, one of the articles was about "facing reality." Facing reality is a hard thing to do sometimes, especially in regard to our bodies limitations. When we have a condition that limits what we can do now, as opposed to what we used to be able to do, we often struggle to face reality. Sometimes it feels like giving up! Other times it is a relief to accept what cannot be changed. The Serenity Prayer is a great help to those of us in the struggle to face reality.
Lord. give me the Courage to Change the things I can.
The Serenity to Accept the things I cannot change.
And the Wisdom to Know the difference. Amen

It is only God who can give us what we need in our day to day living with limitations. This prayer is a good one for those of us who have to daily "Face Reality."

I finally got back to this. The last few months, I haven't had the energy to do much, so I quit work. I have been home about six weeks now and am trying to do some of the things, I couldn't do before. This blog will be changing directions as I feel that I should be doing something different. So I will be writing more often, not about series of books. I thank God for His Goodness and Ask Him to Bless You.
